A time table of fun activities is organised at the beginning of each holiday that offers the children an action packed programme of activities that includes trips out to places such as the Wacky Warehouse, ten pin bowling, Stafford Castle, Ice cream farm etc.
The nursery has 4 rooms and the children are grouped according to their age and stage of development.
The staff work in their own rooms on a permanent basis. This ensures that you know exactly who is looking after your child each day.
(6 weeks - 12 months)
The baby unit is specifically designed for the 0 -12 months age group with its own outdoor play area. There is a basic daily routine but this is very flexible and takes into each child’s individual needs. Each child has a home to nursery book which staff complete on a daily basis. It informs you of all the necessary things you need to know whilst your child has been in our care such as how long they have slept, what they have eaten, when they have had their bottles of milk etc. The daily routine includes plenty of stimulation through a variety of activities such as painting, water play, singing, musical instruments, stories, art and craft and lots more. There are a variety of toys all specifically designed to encourage the development of this age group. The outdoor play area has a large sun canopy and a rubberised play area. The children are encouraged to get plenty of fresh air each day and there are large pieces of outdoor equipment to encourage physical play.
When your child is ready to begin weaning the staff will talk you through our menu and plan which foods you would like us to introduce and when. All food is prepared freshly on the premises each day by our experience cook.
We ask parent’s to provide nappies for their child and any formula milk where necessary. Staff will happily make up bottles fresh each day and sterilise bottles afterwards.
(12 months - 2 years)
This roomed is designed specifically for the 1-2 year olds and is managed by 3 qualified nursery nurses. They encourage the children to socialise and interact with one another through various fun activities such as singing and dancing, water and sand play, art and craft activities, out door play and lots more. The children work around the nursery daily routine for meal and snack times and they have quite time after lunch where those children who need it, have a sleep on their own sleep mat with clean bedding.. We continue to write home to nursery books in this room so parents are aware of what the children have eaten, how long they have slept etc. Nappies are checked and changed on a regular basis and children are encouraged to become familiar with the potty even though they may no be quite ready for potty training. The daily routine includes plenty of outdoor play in our large and secure play ground.
(2 - 3 years)
This room is designed specifically for the 2- 3 year olds and is managed by 3 full time nursery nurses. The programme of activities become more structured for this age group as they are ready for new experiences. Staff introduce more structured work on colours and numbers and children learn the alphabet through a fun scheme called ‘jolly phonics’. The children follow a weekly theme and activities are organised around these topical themes. For those children that begin to show an interest in potty training, the staff will work with the parents to encourage their progress and the children have a reward booklet where we monitor their progress with stickers of achievement. There is still a period of quiet time after lunch where those children who still need a day time sleep, can rest on sleep mats.
(3 - 4 year olds)
The children in the pre-school room are introduced to numbers, colours, and basic reading and writing skills to help their development. They also follow the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ which prepares them for school. The nursery staff liaise with both the parents and the teachers at the local primary schools with regard to how much preparation for school life they feel is appropriate. Children have access to a computer on a daily basis and they follow the ‘Jolly Phonic’ alphabet scheme.
Government funding All children from the age of 3 years are entitled to free government funding. This funding can be used at the nursery so please speak to the manager for further information.
